Job Overview – Registered Nurse, HMP Parc, Bridgend

As a Registered Nurse in the prison, you will provide physical healthcare to prisoners as part of the NHS team. You will work with G4S, GPs, mental health teams, and other partners to deliver primary care inside the prison.

Your job will include carrying out health checks, giving medication and treatments, doing diagnostic tests, and supporting a range of health and social care needs for prisoners.

You will need to work flexibly across the service, providing safe and effective care. This means working with both physical and mental health teams, as well as prison staff.

The role is focused on delivering primary healthcare within the prison, so prisoners can be treated on site rather than transferred to outside hospitals. You will use your skills and knowledge of health issues and treatments, and be open to learning and developing further within the integrated services.

Main duties of the job

• Support the health and wellbeing of patients and make sure the environment is safe, caring, and supportive.
  
  

• Follow the NMC Code of Conduct and respect people’s differences such as gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion, culture, and disability.
  
  

• Always work in line with the NMC Code of Conduct.
  
  

• Safely give medicines according to RCN guidance.
  
  

• Act quickly in medical emergencies and bring the emergency equipment to the scene.
