Job Summary

  • Role: Band 5 Registered Nurse

  • Employer  NHS Trust  Registered Nurse within NHS

  • Contract Permanent full time   part time  as per rota

  • Salary  Within the NHS Agenda for Change Band 5 pay scale

  • Location  Healthcare setting  ward   clinical environment

  • Reporting to  Senior nurse ward manager or clinical nurse lead

Job Overview

As a Band 5 Registered Nurse  you will deliver high quality nursing care in a busy NHS clinical environment. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team   including other nurses  doctors  allied health professionals   to care for patients. Your day to day will involve assessing patients planning their care  and making sure treatments are carried out safely. You will report to a Nurse Manager or Ward Leader and may mentor junior staff or trainee nurses. The role involves both independent decision making and teamwork.

Main Duties of the Job

Your key responsibilities will include 

  • Assessing patient needs through observation conversation and clinical assessment

  • Developing  implementing  and evaluating individual care plans

  • Administering medications and treatments safely in line with protocols

  • Monitoring patient vital signs and responding to any changes or emergencies

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records  clinical documentation

  • Supporting patients and their families with information  reassurance and education

  • Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care

  • Acting as a patient advocate  ensuring patients  rights  dignity and choices are respected

  • Participating in handovers  ward rounds  and team meetings

  • Contributing to quality improvement audit  and clinical governance activities

  • Supporting less experienced staff  students  or healthcare assistants as needed

  • Promoting a safe clean and therapeutic care environment

 

 

 

Qualifications  Experience and Skills

1. Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Nurse  Adult  with valid NMC  Nursing and Midwifery Council registration

  • Previous experience in clinical nursing  this may include placement experience for newly qualified nurses

  • Experience using electronic health records   documentation systems

2. Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision making skills

  • Knowledge of nursing care processes  assessment  planning  implementation  evaluation

  • Good understanding of medication management and patient safety standards

  • Excellent communication skills  with patients families  and the healthcare team

  • Competent in IT   digital tools  for record keeping care planning

  • Ability to prioritise tasks manage time and work under pressure
