Job Overview

In this role you will work as a Registered Nurse Band 5 within a busy clinical environment delivering compassionate evidence based patient care. You will report to the ward unit manager or senior nursing staff working alongside doctors allied health professionals and support teams. The position is situated in a hospital based service where you will be part of a team focused on delivering safe efficient care and improving outcomes. You will engage in direct patient care clinical assessments monitoring and supporting treatment pathways. The work environment demands flexibility resilience and a strong commitment to nursing best practice

 

Main Duties of the Job

  • Provide direct patient care assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing interventions

  • Monitor patients vital signs symptoms and progress raise concerns when necessary

  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with protocols and safety guidelines

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care and treatment plans

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records documentation and handovers

  • Ensure infection control safety standards and equipment checks are upheld

  • Support patients families and carers providing education advice and emotional support

  • Participate in audit quality improvement clinical governance and best practice initiatives

  • Supervise junior staff and students when required contribute to a positive team culture

  • Work shift patterns including nights weekends and bank holidays as required by the service

Qualifications Experience and Skills

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with active professional registration

  • Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification in adult nursing

  • Proven experience working in a clinical nursing role preferably in a hospital or acute care setting

  • Experience of managing a caseload of patients working within a team and across disciplines

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to make sound judgements in patient care

  • Good knowledge of nursing standards protocols NICE guidelines and clinical governance

  • Able to administer medications safely and monitor patient responses

  • Excellent communication skills verbal written and interpersonal for patients families and team members

  • Good organisational and time management skills prioritising tasks handling multitasking and working under pressure

  • Confident IT skills and accurate documentation in patient records and electronic systems
